謝金河在臉書指出，2016巴西里約奧運開跑，今年的開幕式受到巴西經濟困頓的限制，預算嚴重縮水；但以環保、歷史為主題的開幕式，全球觀眾都見識到巴西的軟實力，以及拉丁民族特有的文化底蘊，證明花小錢也可以辦大事。

根據巴西當地媒體透露，巴西里約奧運的預算原編列1.14億美元，但實際只有5590萬美元，整體預算只有倫敦奧運的1/12，更是只有2008年北京奧運會1/20。

他說，里約奧運表演貴賓全是義工，沒有龐大預算，難有高科技的特效，像北京奧運有超大型的舞台，4.4萬個LED燈；里約奧運開幕，千名表演者揮舞250片巨型錫紙，構成不同的幾何圖案，再加上投影技術，讓觀眾錯覺舞者在空中飛舞，這是靠創意克服低成本的問題。

里約奧運開募式充分展現巴西舞蹈之美，又找來變性名模表演，展現巴西的多元與包容文化。巴西里約奧運的極簡風，可做為未來的範例。

謝金河指出，就像「奧運的魔咒」（CircusMaximus）這本書所言，主辦奧運就像是一場大豪賭，輸多贏少不一定，像北京、倫敦觀光人數不增反減，經濟效益被誇大，賽後場館淪為蚊子館，國家財政被掏空。

最慘的是希臘辦完2000年奧運，國家幾乎破產，這次里約的簡約風格，可視為範本，柯文哲市長可以好好參考里約這次的版本。1050810
